DESCRIPTION:

Visit Bavaria’s favorite attraction. During the two-hour  morning drive towards the South-Western Alps, we pass the most beautiful Bavarian landscapes with their typical farm houses between sprawling meadows and woods. On the way you will see a few well-known lakes and typical hamlets. While on the road we’ll tell you everything about the builder of the castle, King Ludwig II and his remarkable life.

Arriving in Hohenschwangau, your tickets will be waiting for you, so you won’t lose any time. We’ll approach the castle by public bus or horse carriage. When the weather is fine you will have an exciting view of the Schongau valley and the Alpine foothills.

After the guided tour by the castle’s staff, we will visit a viewpoint overlooking Pöllat Canyon and, if open, Queen Mary’s Bridge. After a little snack–if you wish–we start our trip back home. Minimum duration: about 9 hours (including lunch break).

DESCRIPTION:

Visit famous Herrenchiemsee Palace, which was King Ludwig II’s last edifice. He was proud to finally have his beloved VERSAILLES at home. We leave Munich in the morning towards Lake Chiemsee.

During the 90 minute drive we’ll tell you all about the famous king and his remarkable life and the events leading up to the building of the palace. From the village PRIEN we take a short ferry ride to the island Herrenchiemsee. After a 20 minute walk  or shorter horse carriage ride through the palace woods we reach the castle.

The palace tour is guided by the castle’s staff. Afterwards it is possible to get refreshments at the abbey’s pub or the harbor in Prien. Minimal duration: about 7 hours (including lunch break)

ROTHENBURG o. d. TAUBER:

(Duration: 9-12 hours)

Visit this largely preserved medieval imperial city of Northern Bavaria and get real close to history.

During the approximately 2 1/2 hour drive, we will inform you of this famous town’s history, its surroundings and the integration of Franconia into the kingdom of Bavaria at the time. Among other things in Rothenburg we will see the historical town hall, the market square and the renowned pilgrims’ church, St Jakob. After a thorough tour and some refreshments, it is possible to visit the many little artisanal stores. Here you will also find the most famous manufacture of Christmas ornaments, “Käthe Wohlfahrt”, whose products can be found world-wide.

This tour can be easily combined with a visit of NUREMBERG.

NUREMBERG:

(Duration: 8-12 hours)

During the drive to Nuremberg, that will last up to 2 hours, we will inform you about the city and region. In Nuremberg among other things you will see the Imperial Castle, the Nazi party  rally grounds and the Court, where the Nuremberg trials were held against prominent Nazi war criminals.

This tour can be easily combined with a shopping spree at the nearby outlets for world-renowned  sports brands ADIDAS and/or PUMA. Also on the way to/from Nuremberg: the well known Shopping Mall “Ingolstadt Village Outlet-Center”.

AUGSBURG:

(Duration: 5-7 hours)

More than 2000 years of urban history, various epochs of style and the oldest social housing area still in existence. During the 1 hour drive we inform you about the city and its region, Swabia. Among other things in Augsburg we will show you the famous Fuggerei and City Hall’s  Golden Hall.

REGENSBURG:

(Duration: 6-12 hours)

During the approximately 90 minute drive, we will inform you about this Roman city of more than 1800 years and the varied role it played  in Bavaria over the course of the centuries. In Regensburg we will show you  Castle Thurn und Taxis, where you can participate in a public guided tour. Afterwards we will  walk through the well preserved medieval town with its many attractions.

This tour can be easily combined with a stop at the famous Weltenburg Abbey with its Asam Church, inn, beer garden and monastery shops. In Kelheim, which is a short boat trip away– via the impressive Danube Narrows, we can take you to King Ludwig I’s  renowned Liberation Hall; optionally with the afore-mentioned local guide. Famous memorial Walhalla is situated a little North-East  of Regensburg in Donaustauf. (It is a copy of Athen’s Acropolis.) Walhalla was also built by King Ludwig I and contains a collection of busts and memorial plaques of important German historical figures. The building extends high above the Danube and can also be reached via boat from Regensburg.

SALZBURG:

During the two-hour long drive through the picturesque Bavarian Prealps and the Chiemgau region, we will inform you about Austria and its historical relationship to the duchy and kingdom of Bavaria. We’ll pay particular mind to the Salzstrasse, the old merchant route between the Salzburg region and Northern Bavaria, which influenced the founding of Munich and connects both cities historically. After our arrival in Salzburg we will show you the old town with its famous Getreidegasse (cereal alley). We will accompany you on optional visits of famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus MOZART’s birth house, fortress HOHENSALZBURG, MIRABELL PALACE, the new RESIDENCE and the famous cathedral, the DOM. Afterwards you’ll have some time to shop or to take a walk through the historic old town. During the month of December you have the opportunity to visit the lovingly designed Christmas market.

INNSBRUCK:

During the two-hour drive, we inform you about historical connections between Austrian state Tirol, aka the heart of the Alps, and the old “Bavarian Kingdom”.  Depending on weather conditions  there are various possible routes. The most beautiful one leads us past stunning Alpine landscapes and lakes, where we can stop for a photo op any time.You will see  the lakes TEGERNSEE on the German and ACHENSEE on the Austrian side–both  have been popular tourist destinations for more than 100 years. In Innsbruck, the capital of  Tirol, we will park in the city center and take a walk through the old town to visit the famous Goldenes Dachl (golden roof). You have the option of visiting the interesting shopping street, more historical buildings or the modern city hall facade.

SALZKAMMERGUT:

About 50-80 km South-East of Salzburg there is an awesome mountain lake landscape, the completely preserved medieval town HALLSTATT at HALLSTATTERSEE and the well known glacial caves in the Dachstein mountain range.

Optionally, we can also visit picturesque SANKT WOLFGANG on the lake Wolfgangsee. To spend a night at the famous hotel “Zum Weissen Rössl” is an experience.
